Dental Exams and CleaningsHere at All Family Dental Care, we are proud to offer dental examinations and cleanings for our patients in Everett, WA and the surrounding areas.

A regular dental exam is an important part of preventing future problems with your oral health. During a dental exam, our educated and compassionate dentist and hygienist will evaluate your risk of developing other oral health issues. The dental exam will include a dental X-ray and may include other diagnostic procedures.

It is suggested that you see your dentist every six months. If there are any issues going on with your gums or teeth, going regularly to the dentist will ensure that they are caught quickly. This will make the treatment less severe which also saves you money.

Many people see the mouth as a completely separate part of the body, but really everything is connected. Many issues can start in the mouth and continue into other parts of the body; some of those issues include dementia and heart disease. Cleanings are an essential part of keeping your mouth and the rest of your body disease-free.

A lot can happen during a dental cleaning depending on what the hygienist and dentist find. First, we will review your medical history to ensure that there is nothing alarming. Second, we will evaluate your gum tissue and screen you for oral cancer. We will also check on your biting, chewing, and swallowing patterns to ensure that everything is healthy. Lastly, we will examine your teeth and see if there is any indication of decay.

People that practice good oral hygiene at home make sure that they brush at least two times per day and floss daily. If you do this, you will typically not experience any discomfort during a cleaning. Those who neglect their oral hygiene habits may experience some discomfort or sensitivity during a dental cleaning.

During the dental exam, we will discuss your diet and oral hygiene habits. We will also go over proper brushing and flossing techniques. If you have any questions at this time, you are welcome to ask them. We will never think your questions are silly. We want to ensure that you are getting a quality dental exam so that you can have clean and healthy teeth.

The American Dental Association recommends that adults schedule a regular dental exam every six months; even if you do not think you have any problems, it is still important to have a dental exam to maintain your healthy teeth and gums.
